W. H. Pettitt

Another of the early settlers was W. H. Pettitt, who lived on N.W. 14 5-21-28. He was married in 1899.  Previous to the wedding he had built a new bungalow for his bride. Mrs. Pettitt, now living in Russell, has fond memories of her first home with its trellis over the doorway and the flowers growing around the bungalow.  They were very happy in Brightside and thought it an ideal place to bring up their family amongst friendly neighbours and lots of good wholesome fun such as baseball in summer and skating in winter.  The Pettitts farmed for many years, later retiring to Russell to live.
