JAMES ALBERT (JIM) NEWELL

James A. Newell in 1905 came from Perth, Ontario, where he was born.  After two years working on elevator construction, Jim settle in Russell, as agent of the Lake of the Woods Elevator. 

In 1906 he married Lilly McLaren of Neepawa.  They had two children, Mary and Albert.

Mary married Jack McDonald, son of Mr. and Mrs. George McDonald.   They are living in California, and have two daughters, both married and living in California.

Albert married Frances Burnett of Neepawa in 1951.

Jim Newell was remarried after his first wife died, in 1910, to Miss Grace Mann, who died in 1952.  His third wife was Hughena Burroughs.

Jim was very active in the Elk's Lodge of which he was a charter member and a life member.  He died in 1964.
