Graham Boulton (Cousin of Major C.A. Boulton: see Boulton Family)
- Submitted in 1999 by William S. Boulton (Grandson)
I was delighted to come upon your history site dealing with Russell
and Asessippi. I am a grandson of Graham Boulton who is mentioned in your Asessippi history. He married Elizabeth Gill, whose brother
was John A. Gill. My grandfather homesteaded in Beaconsfield, Manitoba in 1879, then moved
to Russell in 1882, where he settled and eventually married my grandmother. My father was
born in Asessippi in 1893. My grandfather and his family moved to Seattle in 1898, the
reason being a disastrous crop failure.
I possess my grandfather's story of his move from Beaconsfield to
Russell, also the diary kept by Jack Gill when he went to the Klondike gold rush in 1898.
I have placed both of those documents on my web site, as well as a few chapters of Major
Boulton's book, "Reminiscences of the North West Rebellions", a copy of which I
have. In addition, I have placed several chapters of my grandfather's sister's
autobiography, dealing with, among other topics, the time when she kept house for him in
Beaconsfield and the time when she served as a teacher for Major Boulton's
children. These are available on my web site, wsb.datapro.net.
I would be honored if you would place on your site a link to mine -
some of the stories might be of interest. I would like to place on my web page a link to
your Russell and Asessippi pages, with your permission.
Very truly yours,
William S. Boulton
